Loading and unloading is by manipulators and transfer within the press by a
rotary table.
The line consists of the following:
1. Gas-heated, walking beam furnace
2. Wedge screw press with frequency controlled, direct drive, type SKP
2500, having a permanently admissible force of 4000t and a force for a
blow "die to die" of 5000t.
Process description
Sawn round bars are end-heated in the furnace - depending on the heating
length required for subsequent upsetting - and then removed by a
manipulator, turned 90 degrees (placed upright), and fed into a tool at the
loading point on the rotary table. In the press area three successive cone
upsetting operations are performed with the rotary table indexing after each
press stroke. The ram is equipped with four tools. Lubricating, blasting
and cooling operations are integrated into the automatic sequence.
In the fourth and last operation finish-forging of the flange is performed.
A manipulator removed the finished flanged shafts and positions them in a
holding rack.
