2-3. Electric and Electronic Control System
2-3-1)
Allen Breadly PLC (AB 5000 series) based electronic control system and HMI. The electrical control system will include multi-axis controllers for the integration between press and the auxiliary devices.
The system will comprise of a Siemens Allen Breadly with HMI. The operators control desk would include the following:
- Main control on/off switch
- Control reset and emergency stop push buttons
-Start/Stop push buttons for pump auto, sequential starting/ stopping with lamps to indicate that sufficient pump – sets are running for forging to commence.
- One master forge joystick for press movement control in both auto and manual modes.
- Press Clamp/Tonnage
- Press mode selector – Manual/Auto/Semi Auto
- Data entry panel for setting of press position and the forge/ return speeds
- Digital display of the press position with set zero push button
- Push buttons and/or joystick controls for semi-auto and manual control of auxiliary movements
Data Entry
Press Data Entry will be accomplished via a desk mounted PC.
Data to be entered would include:
- Pass No.
- Dimension
- Return stroke
- Slowdown
- Dwell time
- Main mode
In addition, set data can be stored or retrieved for the current billet, however longer term storage and retrieval by part number would require the use of a separate P.C. To enable pre-defined and storable press configuration, a program part editor will allow independent preparation and editing of part profile programs. This enables the creation of a database of part programs, which can be recalled for further use.
Position Sensors for Press and Auxiliary Devices
Two position sensing devices, provided for measurement of the press position
One recoil drive for measurement of the table shift
One recoil drive for measurement of the press
Operator
PC will be provided to display all relevant information for the operator will displays of actual and programmed position and pressures. The system will have a graphical interface and animated command and feedback signals. The functionality of the screens and keystrokes will be identical to the existing press;
Screen 01 Pass Data
Screen 02 Auto Cycle
Screen 25 Die Library
Screen 55 Faults
This will ensure operator inter-changeability and consistency between the press controls.
Status Screens
Status screens will be provided to show the status of the machine these screens will contain information on the following:
- Press Positions
- Motor Status
- Pump Loading Status
- Pressures
- Hydraulic Status Filters, Temperatures, Levels
Digital I/O
All digital I/O will be accessible through the screen each input or output will have a description of the input/output and a representative of its state. The I/O on the screen will be cross-referenced to the physical location on the machine.
Every input and output can be forced on or off for maintenance & diagnostic purposes. These facilities will be password protected to stop unauthorized personnel interfering with the machine operation.
Encoders
All encoders will be displayed on the screen in engineering units together with relevant zeroing information.
Analog Inputs
Analog inputs will be displayed on the screen together with the ability to scale the inputs into engineering units to be used within the software.
Analog inputs include:
- Pressure Transducers
- Feedback from servo valves
Analog Outputs
Analog outputs will be displayed on the screen together with programmable fields for setting ramp rates and offsets.
Analog outputs include:
- Proportional Valves
- Servo Valves
Faults & Messages
System faults and messages will be displayed on the operator’s monitor and enunciated with and audible warning device. The system will have the ability to reset or accept these faults and act according to the severity of the fault.
Messages are used to inform the operator of dynamic problems on the machine, such as interlock stopping a particular motion.
