PAPER MACHINE 3100 MM DECKLE

PAPER MACHINE 3100 MM DECKLE
Paper machine: fourdrinier with long wire section for making tissue and towel papers.
 
Grammage 15 to 45 gsm. Production 35,000 t/year. Production in various colours. Furnish is 100% mixed waste paper. In recent years production has been 18 to 20 gsm dry crepe and 38 to 54 gsm wet crepe papers. Can produce up to 100gsm wet Crepe papers. Operating speed 700 m/min.  80 t/ day at 38gsm/ speed 580 m/min.
Machine efficiency on 50 gsm  wet crepe is 85%.
The machine sectional drive is on the left from the flowbox. Year of build is 1989 by Over Mechanica with various rebuilds over the years.
All well maintained and in good condition.
The mill is self-contained with package boiler, spares and final effluent treatment.
The plant is well supported with documentation drawings etc.
This is a versatile machine with a foudrinier wire, yankee and eight after dryers.
The plant has had investments of five million pounds in recent years.

Stock preparation
 
 
Two De Zurich and three Metso Consistency transmitters.
All water and stock/pulp pipes are stainless.
All stock chests are concrete with side entry agitators.
Lamort 18 m³ stainless steel pulper fed from OK conveyor with side entry. Conveyor on load cells feeding into a Lamort batch operated HC pulper with a helical rotor. Batch operation and consistency 12%. The mill has a spare rotor for this pulper. Also a spare base section.
Lamort dumping Poire size two in stainless with Lohse pneumatic valves. Rejects dumped onto a flat belt conveyor and then into an external skip.
    

Sicma wire baler for wires removed from waste paper bales.
 
After pulper dump chest. Cleaning is by two Lamort HD cleaners with auto pneumatic dump valves. Next stage is a Lamort CH horizontal screen in stainless: model CH5 with 2.2 mm holes. Rejects are treated with an Esher Wyess reject sorter, model one.
 
    
Next stage is a Lamort CH 7 horizontal stainless steel screen currently not used due to cleanliness of the pulp.
Back water fibre thickening is by an Andritz screw press model SCP7541M/16178 installed in 2005. The scew press also washes out fillers from the pulp.
           
Broke pulper                   
Lamort stainless batch pulper with an OK conveyor. Batch operation, consistency approximately 8%, with a perforated screen plate below the rotor to catch any large contaminates. In line is a Lamort HD cleaner with pneumatic auto slide valves. This is not used as the quality of broke was clear of HD particles.
       
All water, stock pumps are Scann manufacture and this includes the pumps on the final water floatation clarifier.
Refiner
Esher Wyess DSR 20” refiner with auto load control motor. 250 kw and 985 rpm.
Five stage Celleco LD cleaner system: Cleanpac models.
Machine pressure screen: Lamort SP 800 in stainless steel.
  

 

Flowbox / Wet End
Overmechanica flowbox hydraulic operation, stainless steel, manual profile adjustment, slice width 3200mm. Stainless clad cantilevered wire section, vacuum assisted foils, polyethylene tops/foils, plain breast roll, guiding system, auto wire tension, HP and LP showers.
 
   
 
Press sections
Most of press section box frames replaced with stainless build, rubber covered felt rolls, auto felt guide, auto felt stretcher. Uhle boxes and seamed felts are used.
          
First press: Overmechanica 880mm diameter, suction press roll with a bronze shell. Polyurethane cover and cast iron box.
Second press: Overmechanica 620mm diameter plain roll with a polyurethane cover.
Tail feed by Fibron air transfer.
 
Yankee Dryer
Dryer cast iron on A/F bearings, working pressure 8.8 bar pressure, diameter 3048mm, face 3442mm, bearing centres 4102mm, width over bolts 3647mm, paper width 3276mm, shell thickness 38.16mm. Metal sprayed by Voith in 2012. Design speed is 720 m/min, suction press roll loading 470 pli, plain press roll 450pli, auto oil lubrication, Kadant steam joints, Kadant Confromatic creping and cleaning doctors. Press loadings on yankee: first nip 82.31 KN/m and second nip 78.81 KN/m.
Drive is sectional electric via a Santasalo Hollow gear unit with an independent lub system.

Brunnschweiler dryer hood
Spare Yankee
The mill is including a spare Beloit Yankee dryer, year 1968, of similar dimensions and pressures. The dryer is currently on site, protected and stored on a purpose designed cradle.
 
After dryers

Eight after dryers on A/F bearings with auto lub system, guides and tensioners, The dryers are 1500mm diameter, bolted ends, sheathen rope feed. Operating pressure 7.93 bar, open gear drive from sectional independent drive motor. Kadant steam rotary joints the dryers have own hood with front opening door.
Voith/Fibron tail transfer system via Lippke cross machine measuring O frame.
In line slitting section manual set maker Mario with twelve slitters.
Slit edges are transferred via a trim fan to a continuous hydraulic baler with hopper and air separator. Auto wire feed for bales.
 
Reel up
                                  
Conventional horizontal reel up Overmaechanica manufacture with electrically operated primary arms, hydraulic operated secondary arms. Roll diameter 2000 mm, expanding core shaft centres for 202mm diameter cores.
Adjustable core shaft removing system located at the dry end of the machine.
 
Vacuum pumps
     
Two vacuum pumps in the machine rear and upstairs: Nash CL 1002. Fans for vacu foil units on the wire section.
Drive
  
The drive is sectional electric and ABB manufacture. Some drive parts with upgrades.
The machine house has a machine crane traversing the total length of the machine house and upper stock preparation area. Rated at 8.5 ton. The dry end has purpose made lifting beams with hooks for expanding reel bars and complete paper rolls. Within the stock preparation areas there are lifting points and fixed beams to enable maintenance.
Heat recovery systems
     
Metso external recovery system in stainless steel.
 
Water treatment
  
Metso Optidaf: year 2006 in stainless steel with level control, inspection window with sludge density control meter. Overhead camera to keep watch from control room.
 
Boiler
  
Robey boiler: duel fuel oil or gas. Saakke burner. Mill uses gas. Package design, maximum capacity 37,000 lbs/hr, at 15 bar pressure, working at 14 bar pressure. Year 1986.
 

 

DCS/QCS
   
Honeywell TDC 3000 for the analogue control with GEC Gem 80 system. QCS uses Lippke scanner controlling profile, gsm and moisture.
 
Power
Input power to the mill is 11,000 volts. Then down to 3300 volts. Power use in mill: 415v and 230 v AC. Transformers, HT and LT panels, starters’ switchgear and cables are included.
 
Air
Atlas Copco screw compressor operating at 6.7 bar pressure, 900 ft³/min. Air dryer and air reservoir.
NB. The machine is well supported with spare gearboxes, motors, valves, gear wheels and many small spares.

USED PAPER MILL

Paper Mill can be seen in operation until September 2013.

Section A: Wood Line 6
Modern woodyard: year 1972 with various improvements over the years. Production is 125 m/hr of logs.
Design capacity 62.5 cm³ wood per hour. Design speed is 0.5 to1.5 m / min. Camera system operated from central control station.
Log hopper for in feed of 8 m length logs. Two in feed lines 3.8 and 4.4 m wide. Maximum design load of conveyors is 63 tons.
Three sets of saws in conveyor system cutting logs to 1060mm lengths. Drive is 50 hp. Roll centring system before saws are 1500mm diameter.

De barking drum with rubber inner bark removing units: 5 m diameter and 30 m length.
Log conveyor with reject section with rejects going to a reject screen.
Kone/KMW chipper with single motor drive producing 350 m³/hr of chips. Chips transferred by chip screw into next stage.
Log conveyor system feeding debarked logs outside the building with option of feeding external log magazine or on-going to feed the groundwood plant.
KMW Chip screen
The system has its own self-contained water screening system and reject debris from in feed conveyors is continually cleaned from the base of the conveyors with waste going into the waste water system.

Groundwood plant for production of 200 t/day of groundwood
Year of manufacture: 1958 with various rebuilds. Production average 8.8 t/hr and rejects 3.4 t/hr.

Six Voith grinders model 5 with log magazines. Motors are Schorch 3000 kW driving via gearbox to grinders.
Rotary screens feeding onto conveyor for pulp.

Tanks for clear filtrate water and thickened pulp.
Pre - thickening screws feeding the Sudor model 150 screw press in stainless steel, motor and gearbox
drive.
Celleco screw press with Hagglund hydraulic drive.
CELLECO SCREW PRESS
Mixer for bleach then pulp fed into bleaching towers 170 m³ and 250 m³ capacity.
Tanks for rejects feeding screw thickeners which then feed Jylhavara SD 62 rejects refiner.
Stainless pulper for mixing pulp to the correct consistency.
Final stage screening.


Section C: Voith De inking system
Voith De inking system for 310 t/day with two stage medium consistency bleaching.
Was operating on 70% old newsprint and 30% old magazine papers.
Two Voith pulpers model VSG-50, capacity 72 to 170 t/day each, 280 kW drive, with bottom rotors,
gearbox drives, fed from B+G Fordertechnik balers on load cells.

Weighing on conveyors to control consistency.
Feed conveyor then diverter conveyor feeding individual conveyors to each pulper. Year of manufacture 1976. Operating at low consistency. Batch operation. Sectional stainless tubs with bottom mounted rotor

Auto felt guiding and tensioning, steam and condensate at the rear of the dryers, sheathen rope tail feed,
operational pressure 2.5 bar. As indicated the dryer section had a complete rebuild in 1982 where it was
totally removed, new bearings fitted, painted, parts repaired and rebuilt, repainted etc.

Calender
The calender has only one roll remaining and is used as a lead roll for the Honeywell moisture spray
system. This section has an air transfer system from dryers through to the reel up.
Scanner: Metso IQ measuring gsm, profile, and ash.
Reel up
Voith horizontal reel up, rebuilt 1983, hydraulic operation, reel spool store above reel up, reel shell
accelerator, maximum reel diameter 2000mm. Reel transfer crane to the rewinder.

Rewinder

Jagenberg Varistep rewinder: year 1986, 2600mm width, minimum slit 150mm, designed for 65 gsm.
Unwind shaftless with floor pick up: width 2600mm and diameter of 1250mm. Five slitters manual
setting, tail tape transfer, rewind diameter 1500mm to 400 mm, shaftless rewind with various rewind
diameter shafts, tension control, reel reject and lowering table, design speed 1500 m/min. Single motor
drive.

Supercalenders
Two Wartsilla supercalenders: model 12-6850, 12 rolls with soft and hard rolls, bottom Kuster roll and
top Nipco roll, steambox on second roll, and steam pipe on second roll. Maximum design pressure
280N/mm, speed 635 m/min. Each calender has horizontal lift for tail feeding. Spare roll rack with hard
and soft rolls.

Roll grinder/lathe
Mill has a roll store which has a horizontal lathe for cutting new surface on supercalender rolls. Also roll
rack which has individual drives to keep rolls turning before and after machining.
