Stock Preparation

 

The stock preparation plant originally supplied by Lamort has been very well maintained during its operational life and benefited from a number of major process improvements to ensure reliable operation.

The plant mainly operates on pre-consumer waste paper and broke from other tissue machines. There are some grades currently produced that use a percentage of virgin pulp.

The main Pulper operates on a batch process, each charge being weighed, filled via the main waste paper conveyor and the pulped fibre is delivered via a Poire Dumping Screen into a Dump Chest.

Broke is either baled and used at a later date or directly put into the Broke Pulper. As the quality of the waste is well controlled it is delivered from the Broke Chest into the Main Dump Chest without any additional treatment.

 

From the Dump Chest the stock is pumped through two HD Cleaners fitted with double valve traps and on through a perforated screen fitted with a 2.2mm perforated basket. The stock is delivered to a head tank and on to the fine screen feed tank.The excess overflows and returns to the Dump Chest.

 

The stock is pumped from the Fine Screen Feed Chest to a fine slotted screen with the accepted stock carrying forward to the Andritz Screw Press. Screen rejects are collected and pumped to the Rejects Screen.

The Andritz Screw Press installed in 2006 thickens the stock, and also washes out fillers and fines. The stock is re-diluted in a mixing screw and delivered to a Blend Chest. There is a Refiner in the line between the Blend Chest and the Machine Chest.

The majority of the SCAN pumps used in the process have been rebuilt/replaced, with all process contacting parts manufactured from stainless steel. The majority of stock and water chests are constructed of concrete however it will be possible to remove and reuse the

Chest Agitators.

 

Stock Approach

The stock approach has a 5 Stage Cleaners System supplied by GL & V operating at 0.7% and a fan pump delivering via the machine screen to the Headbox

Backwater TreatmentEquipment

A Metso DAF Unit was installed in 2006 to remove any fibrous debris before the main effluent plant. The mill uses recycled water on some low pressure showers with an overall consumption in the order of 30M³/t.

Drive

The machine has a sectional electric drive with approximately 15% crape between the Yankee Dryer and Reel-Up.

VacuumSystem

The vacuum for the dewatering at the wet end, felt boxes and suction roll are produced by three liquid ring pumps.

SteamSystem

Steam is raised in a shell boiler with a capacity of 37,000lbs hr at 15bar. The boiler has a Base Exchange water treatment plant and operates at 50% full load.

The boiler has a burner with Saacke controls and can burn natural gas and distillate oil.

DCS/QCS

The Mill is controlled by a Honeywell TDC 3000 for the basic analogue control with a GEC Gem 80 system used to communicate the individual starters to control motor stop starts. The QCS system utilises a Honeywell Lippke scanner and has measurement and control of machine direction basis weight and moisture

Electrical Equipment

The Mill is supplied with 11,000V through two feeder cables and is transformed down to 3,300V to feed the three largest motors in the Mill. The majority of the power is used at 415V. There are 240V single phase for instrument circuits and 110V for power tools.

Compressed Air

The compressed air is produced by an Atlas Copco rotary screw compressor at 6.7bar with a capacity of 900scfm. There is an oil removal filter and a refrigerated air dryer.

The standby compressor will be retained by the seller.

All stainless steel pipework is included in the sale along with any reusable steel pipework.
